Trapshooting
Perry took 5th place in the 2023 Berks County Amateur Trapshooting league. We also lost to Lenhartsville in the 2023 Monday Evening League that ran May through end of September. Perry is currently in 7th place in the 2023-2024 Berks Intervalley League. That league started September 17th at Leesport Gun Club. Shooters must post a score at one of the first four shoots to qualify, 10/1/2023 at South End Gun Club, 10/8/2023 at Pricetown Rifle & Pistol and 10/22/2023 at Shartlesville Fish & Game remain. We welcome all shooters to compete on our trapshooting team.
Big Game Contests
The next bear and deer contests end at 8:00 p.m. on 1/30/2024 and 2/27/2024 respectively. Bring your harvests to the club for measurement. All winning awards for all big game contests are increased to $75.
MEMBERSHIP
Renewal postcard reminders are no longer mailed. We will notify you by E-mail about 6 weeks before and again 2 weeks before payment is due. However, it is your responsibility to know your card’s expiration date and pay the $20 renewal fee before expiration in order to avoid the additional $10 re-join fee. We encourage everyone to pay with credit card on-line. A new card is mailed within two weeks after payment is received.
Shotgun Patterning
There is a patterning stand for shotguns located between trap-houses #2 and #3. Please refrain from firing shotgun shot shells at the pistol /rifle range yardages below 25 yards. Shot shell pellets at such short distances quickly deteriorate the target mats requiring more frequent maintenance. Limit shotgun use at the ranges for sighting in slug barrels only.
Display your card
Your membership card must be visibly displayed while you are using the ranges. We have placed clips at the bench areas to be used to display your membership card. Also a lanyard displaying your card or fastened to your gun case or range bag are also acceptable. Michael Mescavage is our Range Officer and he stops by the club randomly to check cards, guest passes and safe firearm handling by all members and guests. Club Officers also check same. You will be asked to leave the ranges if you cannot provide proof of member- ship. We are being more proactive in this regard due to trespassers and member- ships that have lapsed.
19th and 20th Annual Women On Target® Clinics
The second of the 19th annual Women On-Target® program was held on September 9th at Perry. This program is financially supported by the NRA Foundation. These are non-competitive, instructional clinics in recreational shooting and hunting sports for women only. The courses include instruction in safe firearms handling, hands-on pistol, rifle, shotgun and archery shooting. We congratulate the twenty-two (22) ladies who completed the course this September. Similar clinics are planned for June 22, 2024 and September 21, 2024. We will post those events for pre-registration sometime during the first quarter of 2024.

The next Board shoot is on October 8th and the two remaining shoots are November 12th and December 10th. Sign-up for each begins at 8:30 a.m. and the shoots start at 9:00 a.m. You are competing for very nice meat trays from Christman’s in Oley. Splatter boards and strip tickets for meat trays are also sold during those events. Seven (7) Board shoots are planned for 2024, April, May, June, September, October, November and December.
